Day 1: seems we're all headed north to the borderland frontier to checkout the realm beyond the fallen barriers. Is it the lure of treasure, adventure facing the unknown, or just escape?

Kukla gazed at
the wanted posted high on the tavern wall, "Sure is a queer looking elf.
Wonder what he did to get such a high price on his head?" It never dawned on the gnome, the picture was himself! At least BEFORE he singed off his eyebrows and burnt most of the hair top his head from all his alchemy flareups as he created his gunpower. Which might explain why others didn't see the likeness either. |

Kukla...Sure is expensive in this border town. Rumors of a monastery across the river and even a haunted graveyard. Good ole Norm would tell any tale to earn his beer. About the only truth I learned was what Tishat calls a common room for sleeping IS infested with lice.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I signed on with Guido as part of a patrol crossing the river into the unknown. Squad of 12 led the way...me hanging back so I could see around them...up too close and all I could see was asses. Lota walking but I wasn't complaining as it was an easy way to earn 5sp a day.
Then the lizard attacked. Chance for me to try out my pistol. Felt good, shot true, but didn't immediately drop the beast as I expected. No time to reload so I closed to swing my rapier.
Once dispatched, we continued. Up one rise and down another, one clearing after another. Till we came upon a flowery vale. Sweet smell and a growing buzzing sound. Bees...huge bees! I braced against a tree trunk to steady my aim as they droned closer then I pulled the trigger...click! Jammed...broken (rolled a 3 = misfire)!
The elf Geno giving orders. Not really as Olaf's men sluggishly responded. Dang those men walking into my line-of-sight of my crossbow. Serves them right gettn stung like that.
Olaf sure is a skittish leader. Three men slightly wounded and he wants to cut his loses and run home. Geno convincing our group to stay on this side of the river as Olaf and his men sailed home. "Wait! You forgot to pay us our 5sp wages for today's work." Why is he holding up one finger? Is he offering to raise our wages to 1gp per day?
You know, if I'm not mistaken, that elf seemed ready to kill off the squad as Olaf insisted we accompany them back.
Angus...First day of adventuring since leaving my homeland.
ReplyDeleteMet an interesting short man. He is very talkative and has a strange name of Cooca...something.
Most fascinating is his weapon he calls a pistol. I believe it is a staff of some kind but he does not want to admit it is magic as they are suspicious of magic here.
I met a person with a small frame and pointy ears ( I suspect these deformities are from in-breeding by his parents). The small person travels with a large man who claims to be a healer.
We agreed to explore the hill for the leader of the town.
We got to the hill with the group of men-at-arms. I played novice and let the men-at-arms take the beatings. Once enough had fallen to beasts the leader Olaf decided we should leave. As I honor my agreements I followed his orders, however the healer has no honor and disobeyed.
After speaking with Olaf he released me from my agreement and I went with the others to keep exploring the hill. I hope there will be treasure and adventure which will help me achieve my foretold greatness.
Geno...Well well! Came this way to find adventure without restrictions. I met up with an odd group who had similar interests and what is the first thing they do...fucking sign on to help a outlord.
ReplyDeleteCome on! Did I come all this way to be told what to do? Bit my tongue and and just went along with no intention of taking orders from a oversized, probable idiot.
He proved me right. We land over the river and wander around for hours with no real idea. We were told to look for some place on top of a hill and this ass keeps going downhill. Then we get into a fight and due to his poor leadership, some of his troops drop. Then expects this holy idiot who won't leave me alone to heal them. He is about to do it when I inform him of his limited healing and to save it for those who matter which like usual, he does what I request.
After Oleg carried the injured man for some time I helped the injured fellow get to his destination quicker...a long dirt nap. I could see that Oleg was huffing badly after carrying another injured man and then seeing that the leader, Assloaf, was heading back with his tail between his leg told Oleg to put the man down. I fully intended to head back and explore and hoped the others would follow. To my dismay, Assloaf, became outraged at Oleg when Oleg was only doing what I requested. I was just looking out for Oleg. Wait did I just say that. I don't give one shit about that oaf...but he may prove useful still.
I wanted to slit Assloaf's throat right there but did not get the backing from the others I needed, so backed off.
Now we are on our own and I am not sure how I feel about the three others with me. I hope they too prove useful to me. One seems to be similar to me and I do not hate him yet. The other two are sketchy at best. One seems to be a follower and the other talks a lot but as of yet I have not seen much from him. They all fought well and stayed alive so that's a good thing I suppose.
