Entry 4

Day 3: Veocyn activates a trap releasing 6 skeletons from the outer rooms that attack. Kukla's pistol shot takes the head clean off one but the sounds reverberate thru the statue room. Geno calls for him to stop shooting before he attracts more, but the gnome is fighting for his life as Veocyn's arrows continue to miss their mark. As the last skeleton falls Geno moves behind the gnome swinging to knock some sense into him. But Kukla mistakes the blade as a deadly swing and takes aim with his pistol...another booming shot that just misses the rogue surprised by such retaliation. Oleg swings to protect his master also trying to stun the gnome. Tense moments in a standoff that simmers for the rest of the day. The gnome reduced to his rapier as he tries to fend off more skeletons, goblins, and hobgoblins.

  1. Kukla...I need to find a way to make this pistol quieter. Some kind of silencer. Otherwise, the elf or I are gonna die. Well, really, according to Angus, ALL of us are gonna die if I keep "announcing" our presence with the echoing shots.

  2. Geno (part 1)- Skeleton pore out of the doors. Not enough to be a problem but enough none the less. My arrow sticks in the skull of one but it does not seem to be bothered. Damn it that gnome just shot his contraption and it is even loader inside. My ears are ringing as I look to the opening knowing there are still many beings outside that must be coming this way know. Oleg shouts to us letting us know that ranged weapons are not as useful. I yell at Kukla and tell him to not shot again as I see him reloading.

Another loud boom and my ears are hurting now. I demand in a way that he stops shooting. One skeleton left and I move to Kukla to knock some sense into his little head. He moved away from my sword as I went to smack him on the shoulder not even knowing I was there and my "smack" grazed him as I say stop again. The little fucker moves and takes a shot at me luckily missing. Oleg now moved up and smacked the gnome and then stood between us yelling that enough already. He conked me in the chest too. He talked of common sense and communication...blah, blah, blah. Wow that was close though. Almost got another hole added to my noggin trying to save my hearing. I wish I had some wax...but then I wold not hear anything.

After that mishap we checked the rooms and finally tried our luck with the big double doors behind the statue. In the room is a big sarcophagus with a holy symbol and a bunch of niches in the wall. Veocyn and I check out the niches and end up breaking them and damaging glass and paper in them. We happened to save some of them we later found to be some healing vials and a poison, some lead coins, and some scrolls. Then we decide to open the lid...oops! An undead thing with glowing red eyes sits up. We all beat it to redeath while more skeletons try entering the room. Angus moves quickly to close the doors trapping us in the room but effectively keeping them out while we fight the one in the coffin. Angus casts a grease spell on the floor as the skeletons finally burst in. The fall in a pile we destroy. After picking up a nice sword held by the thing in the coffin we move out toward the final building.

We know there is an entrance at the front but we are heading to the three doors on the side. We move to the one on the far right. A bedroom with no exit. The next door, a large room with mold. We hear goblins outside and quickly move in and close the door. After they move away I detect for poison as I am leery of the mold. Poison detected! But not the mold but rather one of the vials we found, noted. 2 exits left and right. Right leads to a kitchen where giant rats swarm out after us. We kill them quickly and then Angus kneels over one and puts a knife in it and starts praying....very odd. The left door out of the mold room enters a large room with a trash pile in the middle. The only exit in the wall we entered but to the right.

  3. Geno (part 2) - We enter this new room and it is open to the elements with trees, a fountain and a pool. Two of the walls are obviously exterior walls and one other has the kitchen on the other side. The fourth has no door which I find add so decide to check it out. I do find something odd in the wall and someone else discovers it hides a secret door. Angus drinks from the fountain and says it is refreshing, Oleg and I try it and then fill our waterskins. I tell Kukla it is yummy but he stands fast. He will come around as I know he cannot go long without smiling.

We move through the secret door to a long hallway. A door is on the right side and another hallway going right beyond. The hallway continues straight too. We enter the door and encounter 6 goblins and 6 hobgoblins eating and resting. We learned from our previous battles and have the upper hand. One goblin tries running away through a door at the back of the room so I shot him but he does not drop and moves through the door. Later another goblin tries fleeing. This time my arrow sticks him to the wall. We gather up any gold they were carrying and move to the door and find stairs going down.

We take a breather and think about our next move, go down or explore the rest of the building? This team is starting to come together.

  4. Oleg - Drama! Geno has very little people skills and I know his intentions where good, trying to protect us from more beings, but knocking that poor little gnome about the head, or at least trying to? Well I suppose that is better than stabbing him in the back which was the norm. He must really like the gnome!

I need to keep the peace hear and everyone needs to be careful and respectful if possible. I spoke to Geno about his action but I am not sure he listened. I hope and believe he means well but he was angered by the ringing in his ears and spent the rest of the day continuously asking "WHAT".

Please give more Undead to destroy oh great Sarenrae.

  5. Veocyn...Two arrows no where near their targets. Damn it gnome, QUIT blasting away with that noisy bang-stick! How can I shoot arrows if I can't concentrate?

Finally, let the gnome sulk...at least it's quiet except for the ringing in my ears.

    1. Angus- The building turned out to be not safe. Many walking skeletons. Fortunately, my hammer was made to destroy the walking dead. Some kind of mind trap tricks the elf to attack the gnome. But the dead keeping me focused on the real enemy. I found several scrolls but they were old and fragile, I was able to save one and hope to read it at our next camp.

We entered the last building and I was able to pray and sacrifice thanks to some dire rats provided to me. We found a fountain that had amazing effects on our body. Finally my practice with the hammer paid off as I was able to smash several goblins in one swing each in there dining room. Probably did not realize it was their last meal.
